The splendor of ancient India is a matter of pride for the entire country. Be it the advanced urban system of the Indus Valley Civilization or the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam of the Vedic period and the idea of global welfare with ‘Om Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah Sarve Santu Niramayah‘.
All these ideas worked to give a different level of height to Indian philosophy, civilization and culture. When the world was living in primitive times, India was setting the highest standards of culture and civilization.
After the Vedic period, incarnation type great men like Mahavir and Buddha made the sun of spiritual knowledge rise on the land of India whose light illuminated the entire world.
Knowledge-seeking people from all over the world came to India and hundreds of monks from India went to different countries of the world with this spiritual knowledge. Many scholars also say that Jesus Christ himself came to India (Kashmir) for some time for spiritual knowledge and after leaving from here, he propagated Christianity.
Apart from this spiritual glory, India made so much progress in the field of-science-astrology-Ayurveda-Yoga and medicine.During that period, the world had no option but to learn from India. When the world had not invented a pill to cure headache, then Sushruta had described the process of surgery in his book (Sushruta Samhita)
When the world did not have a scale to measure the height of a person. At that time, the scientific type sages of India had given an accurate estimate of the distance of the Moon and the Sun from the Earth. When the world did not know the calculations of dates, our people used to tell a year in advance when the lunar eclipse and the solar eclipse would occur.
Along with this excellence in science, India was also a major economic power of that time. The circulation of gold and silver coins and the presence of currencies from all over the world in India indicate that India was a prosperous economic power and trading centre.
There is mention of the advanced glory of India in foreign records, texts and memoirs of foreign travelers, otherwise why would a citizen of another country praise us?
People from all over the world, whether they are world conquerors like Alexander or plunderers like Changej Khan and Nadir Shah. Be it businessmen from European countries or saints and mahatmas who are thirsty for knowledge and science. The attraction of all these was India.
The reason for this was India’s spiritual splendor and economic prosperity. Due to these reasons, India got titles like Vishwaguru and Golden Bird. The reason for India’s respect is our feeling of world welfare and our vast thinking of considering the entire earth as our family.
2.Is the claim of antiquity and greatness of Indian civilization and culture fair/justified?
No one should have any kind of doubt on the claim of antiquity and greatness of India’s culture and civilization. I say this for two reasons, firstly, will the culture and civilization that came first be the first to reach its peak? Is there any doubt that India’s civilization and culture has guided the world like a guru?
The reason for India’s respect in the world is its high and sublime civilization and culture. Secondly, the people of India had forgotten the civilization and culture of India after the Islamic invasions and European plunder.
The people of India have been given the knowledge of their antiquity and greatness by these foreign explorers who considered India inferior for hundreds of years.

प्राचीन भारत का वैभव पूरे देश के लिए गौरव का विषय हैं| चाहे वह सिंधु सभ्यता की उन्नत नगरीय व्यवस्था हो या वैदिक काल की ‘वसुधैव कुटुंबकम’ औऱ ‘ॐ सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः’ वाली वैश्विक कल्याण की सोच|
इन सब ने भारतीय दर्शन,सभ्यता औऱ संस्कृति को एक अलग ही स्तर की उच्चता देने का काम किया| दुनिया जब आदिम काल में जी रही थी तब भारत संस्कृति औऱ सभ्यता के उच्चतम प्रतिमान स्थापित कर रहा था|
वैदिक काल के बाद महावीर औऱ बुद्ध जैसे अवतार टाइप महापुरुषों ने आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान का सूरज भारत की भूमि पर उदय करवा दिया जिसके प्रकाश से पूरी दुनिया आलोकित हुई| संसारभर के ज्ञान पिपासु लोग भारत आये औऱ भारत से सैंकड़ो भिक्षु इस आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान को लेकर दुनिया की विभिन्न देशों में गये|
कई विद्वानों का ये भी कहना है स्वयं ईसा मसीह आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान के लिए कुछ समय भारत(कश्मीर)आकर रहें औऱ यहाँ से जाने के बाद उन्होंने ईसाई धर्म का प्रचार-प्रसार किया|
